Achieving Domestic Goddessness

Here I am. Finally blogging after much procrastination…

Why now? Because now, I have something to blog about. Back in my days as a party girl, what would have been the point of blogging? Every post would start with “So I went out last night and got wasted…”. I think it would have been as much a waste of time to write such a blog as it would be for anyone to read it. In latest news, aspiring Domestic Goddess has vanquished party girl and is set to take over the world! Kidding. I’m not the ‘take over the world’ type. I would rather spend my time in the kitchen thank you very much.

The endearing and humourous Keith Floyd, God rest his soul, said, “Cooking is an art and patience a virtue… Careful shopping, fresh ingredients and an unhurried approach are nearly all you need. There is one more thing — love. Love for food and love for those you invite to your table. With a combination of these things you can be an artist — not perhaps in the representational style of a Dutch master, but rather more like Gauguin, the naive, or Van Gogh, the impressionist. Plates or pictures of sunshine taste of happiness and love.” That pretty much sums up my feelings towards cooking. And cooking is key if Domestic Goddessness is what one seeks.

Achieving Domestic Goddessness chronicles my exploits en route to Charlotte York Goldenblatt (Sex & The City) and Nigella Lawson-dom. Although a fictional character, Charlotte is THE Domestic Goddess. OCD but she’s it! Beautiful home, fresh flowers, mother, meticulous cook, perfectionist, a romantic, well-groomed, wife and always dressed in a pretty frock and high heels. Nigella is after all the author of How to Be a Domestic Goddess: Baking and the Art of Comfort Cooking. She makes being in the kitchen effortless, fun and some even say, sexy.

Domestic Goddesses: Charlotte York Goldenblatt & Nigella lawson

While I am still many high heel clicks away from being a full-fledged Domestic Goddess, you can be sure I will get there!
